Are Your Products Showing Up as 'Products' on Google?

If you sell K-beauty, Korean groceries, banchan or homewares online in Australia, there's one channel that's easy to miss: the Google Shopping tab.

When a customer searches 'Korean skincare Sydney' or 'kimchi delivery', Google shows product cards with photos, prices and sellers. To get your items in that spot, you need to set up Google Merchant Center — and much of it is completely free.

What Is Merchant Center?

Put simply, it's a product catalogue channel that feeds your product info (name, price, photo, stock) to Google. Once connected, you get:

  • Free Shopping listings on the Google Shopping tab
  • The option to expand reach with Google Shopping ads
  • Product photos and prices shown directly in search results

Getting Started in 4 Steps

  1. Create a Merchant Center account — Sign in with a Google account and enter your business details.
  2. Verify website ownership — Confirm the domain belongs to you.
  3. Add a product feed — Connecting your online store (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.) uploads products automatically. Manual entry also works.
  4. Enter shipping & returns policies — Accurate Australian shipping costs and return rules are required for approval.

Approval Checkpoints

  • Your website must clearly show prices, shipping costs and a returns policy.
  • HTTPS (an SSL certificate) is mandatory.
  • Product photos should have clean backgrounds and match the actual item.
  • Get your Australian tax display right, including whether prices are GST-inclusive.

Even a small online store benefits from Merchant Center — it's a free chance to appear in front of shoppers with clear buying intent.

PICKTECH helps Korean businesses in Australia set up their online store, connect Google Merchant Center and configure product feeds. Get in touch if you'd like to start showing up on Google Shopping.
