Ranking on Page 1 but Getting No Clicks?
You worked hard on SEO and finally showed up in Google's search results — but nobody clicks your listing. What went wrong? Just as important as your ranking is the title tag and meta description that appear in search results. Those two lines decide whether people click.
What's a Title Tag?
It's the large blue heading you see in search results, and it also shows in the browser tab. It's the first thing a searcher reads and a key factor Google uses to rank your page.
Tips for a strong title
- Put your key keyword first: e.g. "Strathfield Korean BBQ | Obong Korean Restaurant"
- Include your suburb: Sydney, Strathfield, Eastwood — match how people actually search
- Keep it under 50–60 characters: too long and Google cuts off the end (…)
- Use a different title on every page — identical titles hurt you
Writing a Meta Description
This is the grey summary of 2–3 lines under the title. It doesn't directly affect ranking, but it heavily influences your click-through rate (CTR).
- Keep it around 150 characters with the key points
- Be specific about the benefit: "Same-day bookings, parking available, lunch sets from $15"
- Add a call to action: "Book online now"
- Naturally include your search keyword — it gets shown in bold, catching the eye
3 Common Mistakes
- A title that's just "Home" or only the business name
- The same description on every single page
- Leaving the description blank, so Google grabs a random, awkward sentence
